Connie Winters has been synonymous with the best in pet care for Indiana and the surrounding areas since 1960. As a child, she boarded dogs on the family farm to earn money to keep a horse. Her passion for dogs, cats and horses continues to this day, as she oversees the growth and development of the area’s premier resort for pets.
With a BS in Biology from IUP, she set about building the first boarding kennel in the county, and she has never given up her goal to offer the best of care for pets. A member of American Boarding Kennels Association, the International Boarding and Pet Services Association, evaluator for AKC Canine Good Citizen programs, and supporter of the local 4-H and humane groups, she has stayed at the forefront in regards to health issues, cleaning protocols, staff training and reducing stress for pets in all aspects of their lives. Connie has had a lifelong passion for horses. Until recently, she owned and managed her large hunter- jumper show barn, Winterfield Farms, and raised thoroughbred horses. She currently has a horse, cat and dog and enjoys helping her great nieces and nephews with their livestock.

As the soft, friendly voice on the phone, and our front desk receptionist, her compassion and demeanor puts our guests at ease from the moment they arrive and throughout their stay. Katelynn might look very young, she is. Don’t let her age fool you, she has grown up in the business and been active in grooming and training dogs for quite some time both in the business and as an active 4-H Dog club member. She has great a rapport with the dogs and cats, along with the necessary computer skills to man the front desk. In her spare time, she raises goats and trains, rides and show several hunter horses.
Our high energy, dedicated pet loving team is a mix of mature young people, and some that are just young at heart, who love animals and enjoy spending their days caring for and playing with dogs of all sizes and snuggling with our cat guests. Staff members must complete two courses on dog behavior and dog body language and hours of shadowing a senior staff before being allowed to take over their own group of dogs. Staff members are trained in procedures regarding cleaning, pet handling, health concerns, stress reduction, and dog and cat behaviors and body language. It is our team goal to keep all of our guest’s safe, healthy and having fun.
