Our History
Connie Winters’ Pet Resort’s roots trace back to 1960, when founder Connie Winters began taking in dogs on her family farm, originally to help support her horse. Even then, her love for animals was obvious, and what started as a small-scale boarding arrangement grew over time into the county’s first dedicated pet resort.
With a BS in Biology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Connie combined her academic understanding of animal health with her life-long passion for pets, dogs, cats, and even horses. Her early commitment to professional, compassionate pet care laid the foundation for what the resort has become today.
Over the decades, Connie Winters’ Pet Resort has grown from modest beginnings into a full-service, state-of-the-art facility serving the needs of pets and pet parents throughout the region. It has earned a reputation as “the most trusted pet caregivers” in the area.

Our team is available Monday through Saturday, 7:30am–12:00pm and 1:00pm–5:30pm, and Sunday from 3:30pm–5:30pm. Our Activity Programs
- Current research shows that dogs and cats benefit from exercise and lots of human interaction especially when they are not with their family pack
- Exercise increases your pet’s health and happiness and encourages a restful night’s sleep
- Our activity programs are designed to fit your pet’s normal lifestyle and preferences
- For our more active dogs: dog day camps, nature walks, pool time, fetch and frisbee games are available
- For our more sedentary dogs: story time, cuddle and massage sessions, snuffle mats, or a country stroll around our grounds are available
- Our dog day camps and day care programs are available Mon. - Sat. (Campers must pass a suitability test)
- A private sunroom for our cat guests provides sunny spots to nap, climbing obstacles, high and low hiding areas and lots of windows to watch the birds. We are here to spoil your cat with games and lots of cuddle time
Our Healthy Pet Program
Lodging rates include at least 4 trips to elimination areas for dogs daily. Charting of pet’s eating, elimination, exercise & general health & well-being checks are also completed daily. In the event of a true emergency we will contact you or your veterinary office.

- Current Vaccinations required for Cats include Rabies, FVRCP, & feline leukemia or negative leukemia test
- Dogs and cats must be free of fleas, ticks and other parasites
- Owner must acknowledge all behavioral issues prior to admittance
- We recommend owner supplied food & treats to avoid upset stomachs
